Into the Mystic!

[continues previous piece “All we know is awareness”]

We could ask what follows from this realisation. It would be an 180 degree turnaround of our view, from a context of me-in-the-world to one of a-world-in-me, in other words, unmoving awareness being the “theatre” for all “my” experiences. “Unmoving” means not a limited place within a world of space – we must completely drop that view. Awareness cannot move, since there is no elsewhere. So the “me” is also no longer what we assumed.

We would see then that our present idea of space is created mentally to accommodate our idea of a solid physical world. Our notion of time comes from creating “things” and their story. “Me” is an assumed thing with a created story. There would also be no “inside and out”, nothing to be inside or outside of. Our thinking-interpretations would not be our trusted source of understanding, we would find we have another way of knowing – which we already have but usually take for granted. Thinking would be noticed as thinking, so troublesome thoughts would have no validity as suffering, and would have less basis to arise.

Even this way of “factualising” experience is clumsy and merely meant to counter our existing thoughts. When freed from the confines of this thought-prison, we go beyond conceptual description. Into the Mystic!

space, light, colour, is it all illusion?
